I had to lie about my date of year on Facebook to sign up. I have been submitting my school for over a year now and they didn’t add it. This meant I was getting annoyed as I wanted to be honest about everything (including my DOB) and I couldn’t because the school wasn’t listed. I got fed up that the school wasn’t listed and decided to lie about my DOB Year so I could join. This was all fine and I got in.
Now, my birthday is coming up soon and I remembered about lying that, so I stupidly decided to be honest to Facebook. I sent a email off to correct the year out and five mins later, I find out that my account has been deactivated by Reece. I’m never going to be honest if that happens.
I feel like a complete idiot now, pointing that out to Facebook. *sigh*
Edit: It would seem the admins at Facebook seem to have a urge at the moment to disable accounts unfairly. For example, someone was getting harassed and they reported it. instead of the harasser getting disabled, they disable the person who reported it. Plain stupid.
Hi Eddie,
Sorry to hear you got the boot too. Have you read any of the articles today on Facebook in NY? Go to my site and click on all the links.
And right now, they are pretending that I didnt even file any report against MICHAEL LEAF but just accused me of spamming.
It’s clear BS!!

Hi Mei
I have just read them articles thinking that it is a load of bull made up by them to make the New York Attorney happy.
Hope Facebook will notice that they are disabling accounts for the wrong people soonish.
I only had a couple of replies from them and haven’t heard since so I decided to make another account.
Soon Luck

Well, this happened to me. I was being sexually harassed on Facebook. People were emailing me even though they weren’t my friends nor were they in my contact list. I complained to Facebook about it and then they disabled MY account. They told me my name sounded fake. It is not fake. THey want me to scan and email my government id to prove that it is indeed me. I do not feel that I should go out of my way, scanning my id (I don’t have a scanner) to get my account back. They are extremely difficult, rigid, and untimely in regards to addressing my emails and concerns. I get a one sentence, standard email from them and they take about 24 hours+ to get back to me. Horrible experience. I have lost many contacts and friends because I have no other way of contacting them. My fault; I should have recorded their emails as a backup. Hope nobody else has to go through this. Boycott Facebook!

I wouldn’t trust Facebook with my goverment id. Facebook is really going downhill by not being careful who they disable. I would love to boycott Facebook but like you mentioned.. some people are only contactable over Facebook.

First of all, I’m not Facebook and have no control who is disabled or not. Secondly, you don’t even sound old enough for work (by the really bad spelling). Last point I want to make is lack of Facebook wouldn’t affect work and in most cases improve work as you’re not distanced by people profiles.

My Facebook account has been disabled for over a year or so. After sometime I started receiving warning about having the wrong school network and whatnot. Well, I was really trying to be honest, and the only way to not lie was to ask for my school network to be added. I tried and tried but I didn’t even get a reply back. I was just shut down completely.
I was never an addict so I guess it isn’t a death sentence, but I would really like the account back.

Yeah - facebook doesn’t have enough people to deal with the amount of messages. I guess the only thing you can do is sign up again like I did with a different email address. If youre school network is still not there you have make your date of birth over 18 and hide the year on the profile.
